Snow Days

First, thanks to Amy for inspiring me to start this thing. I read her blog all the time, and thought maybe people would like to read the thoughts that go on in my head, too.

It snowed here on Sunday. Snow is not the same as it was when I was little. When I was in school, snow meant a snow day. A free day off of school. Very exciting. Snow now means I have to trudge to the bus stop through a mess of snow, and freeze while I wait for the bus, and melt when I get on the bus because they have the heat up so high. My favorite thing about snow now is I feel like I can get away with wearing even more casual clothes than normal to work, under the guise of not wanting to ruin good clothes. And I guess it does look pretty falling from the sky. Today it's just icy. I nearly slipped a dozen times walking to the bus and then to the office.

Since it was sort of a snow day yesterday, Josh and I took a long lunch and went to a movie. There's a movie theatre right across the street from my office. It just opened 2 weeks ago, so this was my first visit. It's huge! I felt like I was in some kind of underground city. It's got 8 screens, and they show art and foreign films. We saw Touching the Void, which was intense, but I liked it. The only problem with taking a long lunch like that is you get a little taste of freedom, and then it's that much harder to come back to work.
