Take me out to the ballgame

Saturday night I went to my first ever Washington Nationals baseball game. How exciting! We were sitting pretty high up, because those were the only seats we could get, but we could see everything pretty well. I was wearing my Expos hat, 'cause I'm a dork. The guys sitting in front of me first asked me if I was Canadian, and I told them no, but I bought the hat in Canada. They decided wearing an Expos hat to a Nationals game was cool. (well, I think "that's hot" was the phrase one of them used, but I find that expression completely ridiculous, so thanks, Paris Hilton.) On the way out, one guy told me like 4 times that Montreal no longer has a team! I guess just in case I was unaware of the fact that Montreal's team is now Washington's team.

Oh, the actual game was fun too, despite the rain delays. The Nationals beat the Mets. We got free candy bars and Alison snagged a free program. And the bonus of sitting up so high? We were under the cover when it started to rain.

That sounds like you had fun at the game! Cool pictures too! Do the Nationals do anything special after they hit a home run? I'm a White Sox fan so at our park we set off fireworks from our "exploding scoreboard". I think most teams do that now.

I went to a game in Milwaukee just before opening day and one of the Brewers hit a home run. Their "Bernie Brewer" guy gets on this platform and then slides down it. It was pretty funny. They also have the Wiener Race there too. I was happy the Polish Sausage won as I am part Polish LOL.

They flashed this HOME RUN thing on the scoreboard... It said HOME RUN, and had a bat cracking a ball. fireworks would be cooler, though.

Is the Wiener Race with people or is it animated? They did a beer bottle race (animated) at the game I went to. I couldn't get in to cheering for Miller Lite, so I sat that one out. At first I thought they were condiment bottles. I would rather cheer for ketchup, I think.

I was at the SAME GAME with Jim. Happily we didn't get wet either. You forgot to mention the two best things - the hilarious tarp fiasco and Frank Robinson getting thrown out - it was classic. I got to meet that eagle thing (screech?) but we didn't get a photo of me petting it's furry head. We also got on the jumbotron. You must have missed me!

I forgot - there was really good heckling near us too, and they were close enough that the Mets could hear it; I also tried to start a chant.

I did not see you on the jumbotron, C! I'm sad. I actually hid from the cameraman -- I don't want to be on that thing!

yeah, the tarp fiasco was hilarious. I mean really. it can't be that hard!

that eagle thing looks like a big chicken, no?

A beer race doesn't seem so kid friendly so maybe they should change that! In Chicago at White Sox games, they have an animated Pizza Race with Mr. Cheese, Mr. Sausage, and Mr. Pepperoni.

The Wiener Race in Milwaukee is with people dressed as an Italian Sausage, Polish Sausage, Hot Dog, and Bratwurst! It's hilarious! I think they do it in the top of the 7th inning. The winner of the race gets a prize I think. Everyone gets into it too moreso than they do the Brewers on most nights LOL.

You might remember a couple of years ago when a Cubs player got in trouble for taking his baseball bat and hitting the back of one of the wieners (worn by a young lady) and making her fall down as she raced by the Cubs dugout. I think he was charged but then apologized to the lady afterwards. What a guy!
