Safeway woes
Last night, while wandering around Safeway looking for dinner, I realized that while I was hungry, there was absolutely nothing I wanted to eat. For the second night in a row. Both nights, I decided I wanted lobster, but my Safeway doesn't carry it. Not even in the freezer. And I checked both nights, too, just in case I missed something.
I don't really know why I'm feeling uninspired by food; it's not normal for me. I spent several hours over the weekend looking through cookbooks. I didn't find a single thing that appealed to me. I can't think of anything I want to eat, and then when I do, it's something like lobster that I can't find.
Also, I don't know what I would do if I couldn't go to the store on my way home from work. I don't think most Americans shop and cook like that. I think I am lucky. Almost every night that I eat at home, I stop at the store on the way home. If I already know what I want, and it's something simple, I'll just go to the bodega, since the lines are shorter. If I don't know what I want, I'll go to Safeway and spend some time wandering around looking at stuff, waiting to be inspired. Sarah & Cap, my friends who used to live in Brooklyn but who now live in Los Angeles, told me that their biggest lifestyle change, aside from going from no cars to two, was adjusting to the idea of weekly grocery shopping instead of nightly.
Has anyone cooked or eaten anything fantastically good lately? I need ideas.

I haven't really eaten anything good lately either. When I am feeling uninspired I usually just settle for making some chicken and green chile enchiladas as they always go down easily with a side of spicy yellow saffron rice.
I hate when I can't decide what I want for dinner. Nothing less satisfying than eating just because you are hungry not because it is something you really want.
I actually almost did chicken quesidillas last night, so somewhat similar to your enchiladas.
I have been feeling the same way! I just want someone to come over and cook for me. All I want lately is the yummy Angel Hair with Asparagus at Noodles and Company. But you can't eat that every meal.
If I could think of something I wanted to eat, I'd love to have someone cook it for me. the angel hair with asparagus sounds good. but I'd add mushrooms, which I know, maenad, you do not like.
nabbalicious, chicken fajitas are a good idea, too.
We'll be going to our usual diner for dinner tonight and I am feeling so uninspired already!!
No interesting cooking going on in our kitchen.
it seems like everyone is uninspired these days! maybe it's an epidemic...
