High School Reunions
First off, congratulations to my friend/almost-cousin Hannon, who told me some really great career news last night. I'm very proud of him, and even more impressed that he actually has a career path, since, well, I don't.
So, last night on the bus, I ran into this girl I went to high school with. I would never have recognized her, but we just had our reunion over Thanksgiving. Her name is Kiki, and I totally don't remember her from high school, but she's really friendly and gregarious. In the course of a 20 minute bus ride, I learned she has just moved back from Texas, left Texas because she divorced her husband, works as a recruiter, and lives about 4 blocks from me. The interesting thing about talking to Kiki was she seemed to draw other people into the conversation, a talent I simply don't possess. We started talking to another girl about Texas. Then this guy sitting down noticed I can't reach the bar over my head, because I'm too short, and so I was kind of struggling to hang on. He actually offered me his seat. That is such a rarity that I almost didn't believe he was serious. I honestly believe that if he hadn't been drawn to Kiki's bubbly personality, he would have never noticed my issues.
