WASHINGTON DC??!!??
On Saturday, I went with Jayne to see Maroon 5. I only knew one song by this band, since I don't listen to much pop music, but the friend Jayne was supposed to go with cancelled, and I always like live music, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. And also, I thought they were a boy band, so I thought they would dance. Despite the fact that every! single! person! I asked about them told me they weren't a boy band, I still continued to hold out hope.
Anyway, that is so not the point of this story.
I was sitting alone in our seats, and the girl next to me started talking to me. It was a very bizarre conversation, that went something like this:
Girl: So, where are you from?
Me: Washington.
Girl: Washington, DC? (said with some surprise in her voice)
Me: um, yeah? (said with some confusion... I mean, we were only 45 minutes away from Washington)
Girl: (turning to her friend) This girl lives in WASHINGTON DC!!
At this point, I thought she was being facetious, and I was wondering why living in Washington was something worth making fun of. But I continued the conversation:
Me: Um, where do you guys live?
Girl: Port Tobacco.
Me: ?????
Girl: It's in Charles County, in Southern Maryland. Near Waldorf.
Then I decided she wasn't making fun of me, but rather, knows more people who live on farms than in cities. She turned out to be quite nice, and I talked to her throughout the show. But still, confusing. I mean, it seemed almost as if she would have been less surprised if I said I was from Seattle or some other spot in Washington State. (I have never even been to Washington State, besides a brief stint in the Sea-Tac Airport on my way back from Korea, but I was too sick to even pay attention to anything there.)
Anyway, I liked the band, and during the one song I knew (This Love) they flashed a giant M behind the band in lights. Which was pretty boy band-esque, so I was happy.

Sorry they weren't a boy band, but at least the show was good! Have you ever been to see a boy band? I haven't but I bet other than the fact that it would be amidst a gaggle of screaming 13 year old girls it might be rather fun!
No, I haven't been to see one either, but I am fairly certain I would love it.
The girl behind me must've thought they were a boy band too because she kept screaming "I LOVE YOU!!" and every single time she did, I would crack up.
That's great! are you sure it wasn't you screaming the "I Love yous?" *laugh*
well, I must admit, I was tempted, but managed to restrain myself. I'm saving my I LOVE YOUs for the Backstreet Boys, thank you :-)
