I'm no hippie

Yesterday was the March for Women's Lives. Andrew came from Chicago, and stayed with me for the weekend. We met up with Martha from New York and a group she was marching with, as well as Alison and Christina (who live here.) When we got there, there was a rally, and we listened to speeches from all kinds of people. Surprisingly, people were really excited to hear from Cybil Shepard. The rally part was a little long, as we were all anxious to get marching. During the march, we walked along people who were singing, chanting, playing drums, etc, etc. It was great! There were so many people there. I have no way of estimating how many people it was, but there were people of all ages, and from all over the country. There were also some pro-life people lined up along the side of the march. I have no issues with them being there at all. They're allowed to express their views just like I am. I just wish they wouldn't personally attack people. One guy called me a "rebellious jezebel." Just because my opinion is different than his.

I always thought I might make a good hippie. After this march, I'm not so sure. I liked feeling like I was helping to express a viewpoint, and one that I think is important. But I was hungry and my feet hurt!

After the march, Andrew & I went back to my house to relax. We ended up watching Viva La Bam on MTV. Andrew had seen the show once and I'd never seen it. It's HILARIOUS. We ended up getting addicted (it was a mini-marathon) and finally we had to leave the house to stop watching.
