Living in the 'burbs
I've been housesitting this week in a suburb. It reminds me why I like living in my neighborhood, in the city, despite the inconveniences I sometimes complain about. I like being able to walk to restaurants and the grocery. I like being able to walk to the bus stop or the metro station. I like being able to take a cab home if it's late and I'm still out.
Where I'm housesitting actually isn't too far out. I drove to work today and it took about 45 minutes, with traffic. I think if there hadn't been traffic it would have taken 20 minutes. Yesterday and Monday I drove to the metro station and took the train in. It's just such a pain! Traffic is horrible. I get all stressed out before I even get to work. I don't like taking more than one form of transportation to work, so I hate parking at a metro station, 'cause then I end up on a train and driving.
The nice part, though, is not having to worry about where to park when I get home! So, I guess the housesitting is nice for a little change, but it also makes me appreciate my own home more.
