Adventures on the bus, #234

While on the bus this morning, I noticed something surprising. KFC, the one about 3 blocks away from my house, has closed! Not that I have ever stepped into that joint. It's just surprising because my neighborhood really loves fast food. We've got McDonald's, Subway, Burger King, Popeye's, Pizza Hut, and various other non-chain fast food places, like several pizza by the slice places and a falafel stand. I guess KFC closed because Popeye's is better? (I will admit to the occasional Popeye's visit.) We've also got this yummy Peruvian rotisserie chicken place, where you can get a quarter of a chicken, salad, and rice or french fries for about $5. They don't really speak English in there, but how much Spanish do you need to know to order chicken? Not too much, I can attest to that.

The other thing that happened was that someone actually got caught trying to underpay his fare! This is exciting to me because people underpay all the time, and they never get caught. If someone pays in cash/coins, and they don't pay the whole fare, and I try to pay with my SmarTrip card, the card won't go through until the whole fare is paid or the driver clears it out. Anyway, I guess this guy didn't pay it all, and the driver called him back up, and told him to pay it all. He started to put some more change in the box, and I heard the driver say, "No! An American quarter!" Maybe he was trying to pay with pesos? I have no idea.
