Confessions of an NPR Junkie
I'm addicted to NPR. Other people get addicted to things like alcohol or crack. I am addicted to public radio. I'm such a dork.
I have a set schedule of shows I listen to every work day. From the time I get in to the office until 10 am, I listen to Morning Edition. Then I take a little break, and at 3:00, I listen to the World. I love the GeoQuiz. Sometimes it's pretty easy, or maybe it's just that I've visited the place they're asking about. Sometimes it's impossible. At 4, it's All Things Considered, which lasts until 6. At 6, it's Marketplace, which I don't really like but I'll listen to if I'm still at work.
Yesterday for some reason, I couldn't get a connection to WAMU at 3:00. I'm not sure why. I started getting the shakes. I tried a WindowsMedia connection and a Live365 connection, and neither worked. I didn't know what to do! I can't listen to music during NPR time. I also don't know which other stations have the same schedule as my station, so I couldn't just listen to another one. I left work at 3:45 yesterday, otherwise at 4 I would have tried WETA, our other NPR station (they don't play the World). Luckily all is right with the world this morning, and I am plugged in. Whew.
