Strange things in the night
Walking to the bus stop from the metro last night, I noticed 2 things that I thought were really weird.
1. McDonald's is open on Thanksgiving. OK, sure, I understand that there are probably lots of people who don't celebrate Thanksgiving and would be happy eating a value meal, but what about the people who work there? Shouldn't they be able to enjoy the holiday with their families?
2. When did American police sirens start sounding European? A police car drove past, and instead of the regular whooooooo whoooooo noise, it was more like DO do DO do DO do. I wonder if they decided that noise is better? Like when they were painting fire engines that weird yellow color for a while instead of red?

If you understand that there are people who don't celebrate Thanksgiving, then surely you understand that the people who will work at McDonalds that day may be members of the former category. And surely you understand that for some people making a little money to feed their families is better than being at home.
Yep, maybe some people who are working on Thanksgiving don't celebrate the holiday, and chose to be there. The people I'm talking about are the ones who would rather be home, but instead have to work at McDonald's.
It's Jayne. Or, maybe they just chose to work Thanksgiving because they are greedy money grubbers (like I am) and celebrate on Friday instead (like I am)!
Yes, that is also possible!
