to Montreal and Back
The trip to Montreal was just what I needed. We stayed in a bed & breakfast that didn't have tv, so I wasn't able to continue my news obsession. We ate a lot. Walked a lot. Went to a flaminco show with Nizar, who I had met in France this summer at Sophie's wedding. Drove to Quebec City and ate and walked there. Shopped. Relaxed.
On the way up there, we had a strange incident. Getting off the plane, an older man (not that old, but about 20 years older than us) stopped us and asked us if we were driving north. I said we were driving to Canada. Hey, it's a big country, so I figured it was safe to tell him that. Then he asked us for a ride. "Can you just drop me off right before the border?" Luckily, Rebeccah and I are street smart, and so we said no. But then when we were waiting at the rental car counter, he stood right behind Rebeccah the whole time. Very strange. He finally walked off. If he had said anything else to us, we would've reported him to security. And I almost asked the rental car guy to walk us to the car, but then it turns out they drove the car to the front instead of making us walk into the garage.
We also got a flat tire on the rental car, right before we were going to leave for Quebec. We had stopped at a gas station convenience store before getting on the highway, and when we walked out, Rebeccah said, "Why does that tire look flat?" and I said, "Because it is." It was completely flat. I have AAA, so I called CAA and they were sending someone to put the spare on. Rebeccah called the rental car company, and they sent us a new car. It was about a 45 minute delay on leaving, but we made it there.
All in all, a great weekend.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your weekend escape and turned down the weird hitchhiker sort of dude, don't want to hear stories about finding pieces of you here and there (always makes me think of the movie There's Something About Mary) It sounds like Canada was a nice relaxing get away, hooray!
yes, the hitchhiker was SUPER creepy.
Sorry to hear about the flat, but very glad to hear that the trip went well. As for the hitchhiker, it goes back to what our parents taught us as small children: don't talk to strangers!
Hi Genevieve! This is your Scarf Me pal. Just wanted to drop in and say hi!
