Free Stuff!

Not that I expect anyone to want this stuff. It's been out in front of someone's house (not mine!) for nearly two weeks. Well, the couch has. It used to have cushions and everything. When I got back from the wedding, there were no cushions but that brown blanket type thing was on the couch. But it looked like there was someone sleeping under it. Yesterday when I walked by, there were soda cans and other garbage on the couch. This morning, the microwave was added.

I think I may report this to the city's large-trash pick up department. It's quite an eyesore. And a potential home for rats.

Sounds to me like it is turning into a regular ol' open air apartment!

Does your city council do hard rubbish collections? Over here, the councils nominate a couple of weeks per year that we can put out all our over-sized rubbish (like couches and microwaves) and they collect (if the "hard rubbish cruisers" haven't already snaffled it for themselves).

no hard rubbish collections, but they do do bulk pick-up. So what you are supposed to do if you have something like that is call the sanitation department in advance, and they will tell you a date. Then you put it out on that date, not before. it's pretty handy if you use it the way you are supposed to. The regular garbage pick up won't pick up bulk trash as it won't fit in their trucks.

I did email a complaint today - my reply email said it would be investigated by June 9!

Mmm, just add a little rain and some warmish days, and you've got mould like you've never had mould before. Give that thing a wide berth!

yep, Jasclo, rats. Washington is the rattiest city in America, did you know that? Gross.

Jay, mold is something I hadn't thought of but you're so right!
