ok - I took the test - I won't post it on my blog - but I ended up a Socialist (Social Liberal 65% permissive & Economic Liberal 18% permissive). I vote Green usually - we have preferential voting in Australia so a "protest" vote is not a wasted vote - we're also one of the only countries in the world that has "compulsory" voting.
I knew about the compulsory voting, but I have a question about it. Can you turn in a completely blank ballot?
You can turn in a blank ballot, cover the ballot paper in obscenities, tick every box, whatever you like, as long as you turn up and get your name crossed off the enrolment register. Any invalid votes such as the above are classed as "informal". Voter turnout at the last federal election was around the 95% mark and informal votes made up about 5% of those.
