Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

So, this week has been a flurry of vacation planning and money spending. Hooray on the vacation part, not so much on the money spending, but I'll put my tax refund to good use, as soon as I get it.

Yesterday, I bought plane tickets to go to London and Prague with my sister. We're going to fly into London, stay one night, then head to Prague for 4 days to visit our cousin Andrea, who just moved there. Then back to London for another 4 days. Leslie has never been to London (or Europe at all) so it will be very fun. And I have never been to Prague. And I'm going to meet up with my friend Sabina, who lives in London and I haven't seen in ages, and also, meet my Secret Pal 5, Bryony. I've never met anyone who I only know from blogging, so I'm slightly nervous that we'll have nothing to say to each other, but she's super nice, so I'm sure it will all be great.

And today, I bought tickets to go to Quebec City over Presidents' Day with Robin. It will be cold, but it's a lovely city, and I think we'll have fun. I called a very cute hotel to make reservations, and the woman said, "I'd like to offer my congratulations on your excellent French." Which cracked me up. Because it's such a funny thing to say, but also, because I forgot how to say "2008" when I was telling her my credit card expiry date, and had to say it in English, and also, because I made her repeat back the confirmation number "plus doucement s.v.p." (Let's chalk that one up to my terrible problem with Quebecois accents.)
