Oxygen!
Today at work we had a benefits fair. They checked my vision (20/20), gave me a stress test, and I entered some raffles, which I did not win.
Also? They had an oxygen bar. How weird is that? It totally looked like a chemistry set, but I went over, sat down, and put the little pink tubey thing into my nose. Then I sampled flavored oxygen. I tried lavender, which is supposed to be stress relieving, and gardenia, which is supposed to improve your memory.
I kept forgetting to breathe the way the oxygen bartender told me to - in through your nose, out through your mouth. And I could definitely taste the lavender, which was a bit weird!
It was fun as a novelty but I don't think I'd pay for it.
And click here to see what I got in the mail on Monday!

I saw an oxygen bar in a mall in Nashville.
Man I have never heard of an Oxygen bar. Now I want to sample flavored air, I feel left out.
Amie, I'm guessing you didn't try it!
Molly, it's weird. Allegedly it's much more "pure" oxygen than the air we normally breathe. it's supposed to perk you up. And the flavors have different benefits - the guy next to me was hitting the cinnamon oxygen, which was "male aphrodisiac" - yikes! (there was not a female equivalent)
Oxygen bars were big in Denver around 2000-2001. I guess because the air is thinner or something. Anyways, there were actual Oxygen bar places you could go but some nightclubs also had oxygen bars in their club. We would even keep our little plastic nose thingie to reuse. After a couple of years, the fad died. It was a weird experience but I always kind of liked it.
Yeah, it was trendy for a while but it never really caught on here. I guess now it's not trendy anymore - if it turns up at your work benefits fair, it's safe to say hipsters aren't flocking to the Oxygen bar anymore!
PS I am keeping the plastic nose thingy for a potential halloween costume. Hospital patient. Now, just need to find that nightgown (but will sew up the back!) and a bracelet...
hmmm - I've heard of oxygen bars - but thought they were mostly a Japanese phenomenon. Sounds like an interesting thing to try.
Dude - you've got to think outside the box, the potential costume is OXYGEN ADDICT! Oxygen bars may be out but addictions are very in.
Paisley, if you can get the hook up for free, yeah, go ahead and try it. I don't think it's worth paying for!
Dennis' Mom, awesome. You are SO RIGHT!!!
